Norwegian University of Life Sciences' NMBU Animal Hospital implemented Provet Cloud Practice Management Solution in their small animal and equine clinics in June 2020. Per Storjord from NMBU describes his experience with working with Provet Cloud:
"At NMBU Veterinary College, we educate veterinarians, nurses and doctoral students in Veterinary Science and we do research in veterinary medicine and related biomedical disciplines. Our business also includes our animal hospital, which is closely linked to our research and education, and treat patients from all over the country.
NMBU's Veterinary College is now in the process of moving from old venerable buildings in Oslo to new highly advanced premises in Ås. This building is right now the largest and most advanced ongoing construction project in Norway! In the same process, new medical technology equipment is acquired, and a necessary major upgrade and renewal of the IT-systems is ongoing.
High expertise and advanced equipment, cooperating with the best in laboratory services, ensure our patients optimal treatment. One of the most important systems we have is the practice management system, where all treatment of animals are documented in close integration with systems for laboratories and diagnostic imaging (eg radiology). It has been really important for us to go live into production with a new system before moving to Ås, especially important for the animal hospital for equine and small animals. We have been through a specification, subsequent bidding round and our choice fell on Provet Cloud with its Norwegian subsidiary Vetserve managing the project.
It is always challenging to have standard systems adapted to your own business, and that is of course a reality in this project as well. We are naturally not a mainstream veterinary company, there are differences both in size, in the range of tasks, in the construction of the business and not least the fact that teaching is a central area. Prior to this summer, we went live into production with the animal hospital itself, which is similar to a human hospital. This went very well; our company has implemented the new solution and has experienced very few problems with this. Our users are very positive about the new solution.
There has not been a lot of time to look back in the rearview mirror, as we are right now in the middle of a complicated moving process in addition to an ambulatory business that will also implement Provet Cloud. If we still do look back, however, we see that we have presented major challenges to the supplier, a different way of thinking, and a new way of relating to other service providers in the treatment of animals, where these service providers also have their own IT systems. What is really impressing is that Provet Cloud, and in particular Vetserve, have solved these challenges with positivity and willingness in the best possible way. We feel that both suppliers are knowledgeable, and that their focus has been on delivering a good solution for us, based on our expectations."
